The drama of the Football World Cup reaches its climax at the Sports Bar screens
As of this writing, only seven of the best teams remain, with France having comfortably dispatched Morocco in the quarter-finals. But what about the other upcoming matches? With one exception, you can catch all the action at the Sports Bar.
Fri 10.7. at 10 PM: Spain vs. Belgium
Spain gave Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo very little room to breathe in the round of 16, so how could a Belgian side, that has been grinding out uninspired results all tournament, have the tools to advance? Luckily, in football, anything can happen, and the result is by no means a foregone conclusion. Will Romelu Lukaku come off the bench to decide the match, or will the youthful energy of Yamine Lamal carry Spain to victory?
Sun 12.7. at 12 AM (midnight): Norway vs. England
We are in for, among other things, a duel between two very different types of goal scorers. England’s Harry Kane is deeply involved in all aspects of the game, often building up plays from the midfield. Erling Haaland, on the other hand, is a more traditional sniper who might seem to wander in the shadows for almost the entire game, only to strike with a couple of goals out of nowhere. Or will it be Jude Bellingham or Martin Ødegaard who decides the game?
Sun 12.7. at 4 AM: Argentina vs. Switzerland
Due to the early kick-off, you’ll have to catch this one from the comfort of your own home. The Swiss team operates like a Swiss watch: with precision and reliability. But this cuckoo clock is missing its cuckoo to provide surprising goals, especially with the injury to the young Johan Manzambi. Nevertheless, let’s enjoy the midfield engine, Granit Xhaka, while we still can. As for Argentina, one word is enough: Messi. And with him, we know anything is possible.
The semi-finals and medal matches will be played as follows:
- Semi-final: Tue 14.7. at 10 PM
- Semi-final: Wed 15.7. at 10 PM
- Bronze match: Sun 19.7. at 12 AM (midnight)
- Final: Sun 19.7. at 10 PM
Will we see the “moral final” between France and Spain in the semi-finals, and who will face off in the other bracket?
