Casino Helsinki to Undergo Renovations in 2025
As part of the extensive transformation of the Fennia Quarter, Casino Helsinki will also get a facelift. The project began late last year with a revamp of the casino’s reception area. Upcoming renovations will be carried out in phases, with the most significant in the Casino Sports Bar and gaming areas. The layout of table games and slot machines will be redesigned step by step, and the total number of slot machines will be slightly reduced. This will create more space in the casino hall, further enhancing the customer experience and making room for new slot machines.
A major portion of the renovation work will, however, take place behind the scenes. The technical systems of the casino, which opened in 2004 – such as cooling and ventilation systems – have reached the end of their operational life and require updates. The construction of Casino Helsinki in 2002–2004 was particularly challenging due to its location in the Kluuvi fracture zone below sea level and the presence of culturally and historically significant protected buildings. The foundations of the building were reinforced with steel beams and shotcrete, and five underground levels were excavated beneath street level for technical facilities, staff areas, and, of course, the casino floor itself.
The casino’s technical infrastructure is impressive: the largest ventilation ducts have a diameter nearly the size of a human, circulating 30 cubic meters of air per second. Maintaining the efficiency of these systems is essential to ensure customer comfort in the future. The renovation work will take approximately 10 months to complete. Most of the work will be scheduled outside the casino’s operating hours, allowing the casino to serve customers primarily as usual during the renovations. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
We will keep our customers updated on the progress of the renovations through our website, social media channels, digital screens within the casino, and customer newsletters. If you’re not yet subscribed to our newsletter, now is a great time to visit our reception and join the list!
